Chapter 1: Becoming a CISSP

On my first adventure into learning about CISSP I was directed to read the textbook called "All-in-one CISSP Exam Guide Sixth Edition" by Shon Harris. This textbook is a valuable resource not only to learn what CISSP is, but it helps with taking the exam because there are practice question at the end of each chapter. CISSP stands for Certified Information System Security Professional. To become CISSP certified, you have to take a test that covers 10 different subject areas or domains. Chapter one of the textbook covers the details of the CISSP exam and what it's all about. It talks about the common body of knowledge and what it contains. Also, chapter one explain where to go to sign up for the exam. Finally, it gives you some tips on the CISSP exam, and explains how to use the book and offers an assessment test to gauge your current knowledge of security.

Introduction

Hello, my name is Jenny Syhapanha and I am a senior at the University of Georgia studying Management Information Systems. This semester I have the privilege of taking a direct study course working with my professor, Dr. Piercy, learning about Security and Governance - CISSP. By the end of this semester, I hope to gain an understanding of what CISSP is. I want to learn about IT security, how to prevent it, and how to fix it. I hope to gain skills I can use in the workforce and be more knowledgeable about different IT security threats.
